Billboard Music Awards: Best and Worst Dressed

May 20, 2013 By: fohblogcreative Category: Award Shows, Celebrity Style, Fashion & Beauty, Music

Last night the Billboard Music Awards took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. As expected the award show blue carpet brought out the very best from the attendees–and the very worst. Our top picks for best-dressed both took their looks out-of-the-box and straight to shiny. See our favorites, below!

Taylor Swift moves away from her safety zone (neutral, sparkling column gowns) and into electric blue glitz! Looking like a real-life doll, Taylor’s bold pink lip, bump-it ‘do and ice-skater mesh all work together–creating one our favorite looks of the night.

Unexpectedly, the best-dressed last night was Miley Cyrus. On paper a sparkling-harlequin-crochet jumpsuit doesn’t work, but Balmain managed to make one that’s incredibly stunning and Miley pulls it off perfectly. Also, her lipstick is inspiring major envy around the office.

Unfortunately not all the risk-takers last night were able to enjoy the successes of Swift and Cyrus. Somebody named Z LaLa wore a tinfoil explosion–though we will say her hair looked amazing.

Nayer wore a one-piece hooded number, brought her dog and forgot her shirt. (It happens to the best of us.) And finally we finish with Jenny McCarthy who apparently takes the less-is-more approach when dressing. Who had your favorite look of the night and who fell flat? Tell us in the comments below!

Grammy Fashion: Hits, Misses & Must-Haves!

February 11, 2013 By: fohblogcreative Category: Award Shows, Celebrity Style, Fashion & Beauty, Music

Individualism rocked the Grammy red carpet last night, (thanks in part to the rules that CBS threw down) making for a surprisingly refreshing evening. With a ban on the bare, the curve revealing and the visible thong, (certain) stars shone in sartorial splendor.

Some (we’re looking at you T-Swift) played it safe in Grecian-inspired beauties but the rest ranged from cake-toppers to the swinging sixties, dinosaur-inspired couture and beyond! Read on to see our hits, misses and must-haves.

Yes, yes, yes! Adele can do no wrong in a couch-inspired Valentino with matching shoes. Florence Welch stuns in a risky Givenchy interpretation of a dinosaur and we love every second of it. Plus, emerald!

Kimbra and Ashanti both veered straight into NO. The diminutive Kiwi (in a Jaime Lee Major gown) looked positively fairy-like, and while that’s usually a good thing, there was something a little manic pixie about the whole ensemble. Ashanti and Tony Ward may have been going for dramatic, but either they missed the mark or we just didn’t get it. Hint: It’s the former.

Now we reach the perfect part of the evening. Rhianna and Kelly Rowland nailed red carpet glamour, sex appeal and impeccable style. Ri-Ri was resplendent in a crimson and Alaia, proving once again that he is a very important designer and Kelly took the rules and broke every one of them in Georges Chakra Couture. Ladies, take note–this is how you do the red carpet. Who was your favorite look of the evening?

Music lovers get thee to Century City! The incredible show, “Who Shot Rock & Roll” is happening right now at the Annenberg Space for Photography. This is the only West Coast appearance and it’s free, so if you’re in the area, we highly recommend going! The 166 piece exhibit includes everybody, from young Elvis on the road, portraits of Kurt Cobain to candid shots of The Ramones and many others. With images and video from the last 50 years of rock n’ roll, soul and hip hop, it’s a poignant reminder of greatness, artistry and the importance of a musical and visual genius.
