SAG Awards: Red Carpet Fashion

January 28, 2013 By: fohblogcreative Category: Award Shows, Celebrity Style, Fashion & Beauty, Uncategorized

In a departure from the usual glittering, glistening and brightly hued red-carpets of award shows past, the fashion at the SAG Awards was a little more dark and somber–and totally at odds with the sunny L.A. weather. Vavavoom vintage hair, navy gowns, belted dresses and an edgy black and white palette dominated the red-carpet.

Though stars tend to take more chances on this particular red-carpet (since it doesn’t garner as much press as the Oscars), the only real risk-taker last night was January Jones–who pulled off her pompadour and avant garde gown perfectly. See our top trends from the fashionable to faux-pas, below!

Claire Danes, Julianna Margulies and Juliane Moore went for bold, graphic black and white looks. However, Juliane’s florals feel a little underdressed, Juliana’s footwear choice leaves a lot to be desired and Ms. Danes would’ve killed it if her lipstick was just a little brighter.

Yes, please! In a stunning departure from classic black, navy blue bombshells Jennifer Lawrence, Amanda Seyfried and the incomparable Jessica Lange, stood statuesque in beautiful silhouettes. The ladies also possessed the most swoon-worthy hair of the evening and perfectly vampy make-up.

Last but not least, we have the belt. Charming when done correctly—see Tina Fey, who looked divine with her retro hair and sweetheart neckline. Weirdly casual when paired with the wrong gown–see Frieda Pinto, whose gown’s messy neckline exacerbated the informal feel. Jenna Fischer is right between casual and chic, but the metallic shimmer on top lands her gown on the wrong side of the Eighties. Who was your best/worst dressed last night? We know, we know. The inauguration was yesterday–practically months in fashion time, but we simply can’t stop talking about Michelle Obama. Not only did the First Lady kill it with her bangs, the standout color of her dress had us swooning.

To be fair, we’ve always had a soft spot for crimson–we even have our very own shade: Frederick’s Red! Even with, we forget how easy it is to tap into your inner bombshell on occasion (and we’d like to thank FLOTUS for reminding us). Are you ready to get fired up? Awards Season: Golden Globes Round-Up!

January 14, 2013 By: fohblogcreative Category: Award Shows, Celebrity Style, Fashion & Beauty, Uncategorized

We had high expectations for last night and not just because comedy gold duo Tina Fey & Amy Poehler were hosting. The Golden Globes set the bar for award season fashion and beauty trends–but we needn’t have worried, because Hollywood didn’t disappoint!

From retro-flair to captivating crimson, the stars shone in all their glory. Celebs braved the freezing temperatures (or as John Hamm pointed out, “It’s only 50 degrees.”) to show off swoon-worthy silhouettes, daring hair and to-die-for makeup. Here are the three big trends we were loving from last night’s red-carpet:

Naomi Watts, Amy Adams and Michelle Dockery radiated ultra-glamorous, old Hollywood gowns and hair. Personally, we can’t get enough of the neo-noir look–the drama and romance it evokes are incomparable. In three distinct color palettes and cuts, we’re hoping the versatility displayed means more actresses will opt for this on Oscar night! Hands-down our favorite look from the Globes.

From modern columns to classic ball gowns, crimson made a spectacular splash! Claire Danes, Zooey Deschanel and Jennifer Lawrence all pulled off the incredible statement-making hue as only mega-famous, ultra-poised stars can do. Each went in a different direction with makeup–Claire Danes trying out a smokey Eye, Zooey staying with her ’60s chanteuse eyeliner and Jennifer Lawrence going for gold with a dark eye and lip. We can’t wait to try this color trend on our next night out!

Call it the Angelina Effect or simply the return of the leg slit–the Golden Globe’s hottest trend was sky-high! Eva Longoria went with a dramatic long-sleeved gown, while Halle Berry and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley opted for interesting necklines to offset the slit. Love it or hate it, you can’t argue that this isn’t an option for wallflowers. These ladies wore these see-and-be-seen dresses with fierce attitude.
