Billboard Music Awards: Best and Worst Dressed

May 20, 2013 By: fohblogcreative Category: Award Shows, Celebrity Style, Fashion & Beauty, Music

Last night the Billboard Music Awards took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. As expected the award show blue carpet brought out the very best from the attendees–and the very worst. Our top picks for best-dressed both took their looks out-of-the-box and straight to shiny. See our favorites, below!

Taylor Swift moves away from her safety zone (neutral, sparkling column gowns) and into electric blue glitz! Looking like a real-life doll, Taylor’s bold pink lip, bump-it ‘do and ice-skater mesh all work together–creating one our favorite looks of the night.

Unexpectedly, the best-dressed last night was Miley Cyrus. On paper a sparkling-harlequin-crochet jumpsuit doesn’t work, but Balmain managed to make one that’s incredibly stunning and Miley pulls it off perfectly. Also, her lipstick is inspiring major envy around the office.

Unfortunately not all the risk-takers last night were able to enjoy the successes of Swift and Cyrus. Somebody named Z LaLa wore a tinfoil explosion–though we will say her hair looked amazing.

Nayer wore a one-piece hooded number, brought her dog and forgot her shirt. (It happens to the best of us.) And finally we finish with Jenny McCarthy who apparently takes the less-is-more approach when dressing. Who had your favorite look of the night and who fell flat? Tell us in the comments below!

Style Round-Up: Billboard Music Awards

Sheer to sparkly, there was a little bit of everything at last night’s Billboard Music Awards. Few surprises rocked the carpet—there were the typical mix of over-the-top gowns and utter confusion (Usher, I’m looking at you. A white belt and turquoise suit? What is this 2001?), but the biggest look of the night had to belong to Taylor Swift.

Swift, who for the first time in living memory steered away from nude, gold or beige-toned anything and opted instead for a stunning scarlet Eli Saab dress with a lace-paneled bodice and flowing skirt. Needless to say, she rocked it. Carrie Underwood appeared to be channeling every Disney princess at once in Oscar de la Renta gown, pairing the pouf-y confection with a glittering clutch.

My least favorite looks of the night belonged to Julianne Hough and Zooey Deschanel. Julianne, who appeared to wearing a sequined bath towel and metallic pumps (and managed to look quite lovely in them), seemed more ready for a night of dancing than a red carpet. I’m pretty sure Zooey has worn this exact same outfit, mini dress, black tights and pumps several hundred times over.

Brandy took a different approach to the ubiquitous bandage dress with a neutral-hued Herve Leger dress featuring a plunging neckline and fringed (!) bottom. And Natasha Bedingfield went all out in a frothy blue number that had sheer elements and embellishments. I’m still not sure how I feel about it. On one hand, it’s bold, gorgeous color and totally show stopping. On the other, well, it’s bold, bright and sheer. I’m conflicted. What was your favorite look of the night?
