Guest Blogger: A Keene Sense Of Style

September 07, 2012 By: fohblogcreative Category: Fashion & Beauty, Guest Blogger, Uncategorized

We’ve spent hours scrolling through this lovely Angeleno’s photos and have come down with a serious case of style-envy! Her blog is full of ladylike ensembles and  is a constant source of outfit inspiration. Read on to find out where she gets her inspiration, how to balance blogging daily life and more!

What do you do for a day job/ How do you balance your time?

In addition to styling and fashion blogging, I work full time at a Private Equity firm. I balance my time by making sure to schedule everything in my calendar right away. I know that sounds simple but it’s so important to meeting deadlines and being professional in any type of business. Double booking is never good. Also, I try to attend as many things as possible on nights and weekends. Prioritizing is key.

What’s the most exciting opportunity that blogging brought you?

Blogging has brought so many exciting opportunities my way. I have gotten to collaborate with many brands that I have always loved and I get to style clothes which is something that I am very passionate about. It’s very exciting.

What style icons do you look up to?

I love Olivia Palermo because I think she is chic and modern while also being incredibly classic and feminine. Since I also love vintage clothes I look up to the lovely Jackie Kennedy as a style icon also.

What gives you confidence?

I feel the most confident when I am able to take my time in the morning! I am able to go over all the little details of getting myself ready for the day. And I feel best when wearing something feminine and tailored.

What was your most proud moment?

My most proud moment was when I was featured as one of Glamour.com’s best dressed readers! I have always loved their magazine so you can definitely say that I was beaming from ear to ear for a few days. Sometimes it’s just so exciting to see that other people appreaciate your work, whether it be styling an outfit or something else.

What is your favorite decade for style?

Maybe it’s a cliche, but I have always loved the 60′s, the Mad Men era. I mean, the pencil dresses and full skirts are enough to keep my eyes glued to the TV screen, and I love a french twist! I am absolutely obsessed with the wardrobe for the show.

Guest Blogger: Wrecked Stellar Part 2

May 14, 2012 By: fohblogcreative Category: Fashion & Beauty, Guest Blogger, Trend Alert, Uncategorized

Welcome back to our guest blogger series with the incomparable Wrecked Stellar. As promised, here’s the list of her top 5 picks and über chic styling tips. Feel free to take notes. We did!

1. Smocked Mesh Bolero Bra :

This bra is sexy without trying to be. To balance out the feminine ruffle trim, wear it under an oversize men’s button down shirt. Finish the look with black satin hot pants (to match the bow) and black heels (stiletto pumps or stiletto sandals with one skinny strap over the toes). The simplicity of the bottom half works well with the unexpected duo at the top.

2. Roses & Mesh Chemise:

Undergarments are meant to be worn out. Wear an oversized blazer over this chemise and button the last two buttons so that the top to middle sections of the rose embroidery and mesh show. Pair it with heels that match the blazer’s color for a cohesive look.

3. Red Leopard Lace Dress:

While this lace dress has a wild-like quality to it because of the leopard overlay, the color of the accessories can flip that perception. Pair the dress with babydoll pink stone earrings, rings and matching pink heels for a Valentine’s Day spectrum. Or pair the dress with an emerald green stone necklace, bracelets and matching green heels for a little Christmas spirit. These color choices take the look to another level, especially when worn beyond the time frames of these holidays.

4. Crossover Tee in White:

The crossover structure elevates this t-shirt. Since the cut of the top already shows the stomach, the goal is to play off of that with low waistlines. Wear it with low-rise denim cutoffs or with a pair of luxurious faded black, vintage-inspired sweatpants (make sure to fold the waistband down once to show off your stomach). Complete the look with gray heeled booties or bright sandals to add a pop of color.

5. Distressed Sequin Jean:

With the sequin embellishments, these jeans don’t need much more than a thin ribbed white tank top. Tuck the tank into the jeans or tie the back of the tank in a knot so that it becomes a cropped top. Finish the look with white canvas sneakers to nod to the simplicity of the tank or silver heeled sandals to match the sequins.

5 Ways I Love… Australia!

April 08, 2012 By: fohblogcreative Category: Uncategorized

We’re very excited to present to you our guest blogger, Lauren! Lauren is our web designer extraordinaire and resident Australian goddess. Recently, she made a pilgrimage to the Homeland and reported back to us with her five favorite places down under. We hope you enjoy this trip…take it away Lauren!

I have been living in LA for 2 years now, and although I love it to bits, not a day goes by that I don’t think about my homeland, Australia. Beautiful beaches, harsh climates and breath-taking landscapes, Australia is a country of contrast. On a recent trip home, I visited some of my favorite locations, and I’m excited to share them with you!

1. Bondi Beach, Sydney

Bondi Beach Salt Baths.

Situated north of Sydney City, Bondi is one of the world’s greatest beaches. Despite often being insanely busy, Bondi is a great place to soak-up the essence of Australian beach life. It’s packed with beautiful people (AMAZING people watching!) and lots to do. I suggest sun-baking on the golden sand, swimming in the salt-water baths, shopping the eclectic boutiques and eating at the delicious cafes. Bondi has it all.

2. Mount Stromlo, ACT

Top of Mount Stromlo- view of the fire-damaged Observatory. Photo Keegan Carroll Photography.

My hometown of Canberra in the nation’s capitol, is known for rolling hills and lookout views, my favorite of which is Mount Stromlo. After a devastating forest fire in 2003, the area has been rehabilitated as a recreational park. I love to mountain bike with my dog up the many miles of professionally built trails, watch him chase the kangaroos (or attempt to- they are quick!) and be rewarded by an amazing view of the Brindabella Ranges at the top.

3. Au Lac Gourmet Vegetarian Restaurant, ACT

Laksa at Au Lac.

Located in Canberra’s China Town, is the most incredible vegan food in the world, Au Lac. Seriously, they’ve got every fake meat you could ever imagine (to fool even the hungriest carnivore), and a cult following. In all my travels, I am yet to find a place that compares. Please order the soy duck yellow noodle soup for me. It’s a flavor sensation!

4. Snowy Mountains, NSW

Mountain Bikers catching the chairlift up during the summer.

No one ever believes me when I say it snows in Australia. I promise it does! Situated 2 hours from Canberra, The Snowy Mountains have been the location of some of my happiest memories. In the winter I learnt to ski here before I could walk, and during the summer I have watched 100’s of mountain bike races. When I leave I can’t wait to come back. I recommend visiting during the spring when you can hike out to secluded Blue Lake, and enjoy the blooming wild flowers. The area has some amazing scenery, friendly locals, and a great vibe.

5. Nelson Bay, NSW

View of the bay.

This photo was taken from my Grandparent’s house- what a spot! It has been in our family for more than a century. The area is famous for dolphin and whale watching, surfing and fishing. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, and it’s my favorite place on earth to relax and wind down. Breakfast on the patio in the sun is hard to beat.

Hopefully in the future I’ll get a chance to share the reasons I love Los Angeles!
