Style Essential 2013: Emerald

January 08, 2013 By: fohblogcreative Category: Fashion & Beauty

Welcome back to our style series, where we chronicle the must-have pieces for the upcoming year. The focus of this post isn’t about a style, so much as the color that will be calling the sartorial shots in your life for the next twelve months. In case you missed Pantone’s announcement, emerald is the newly anointed color of 2013.

We’ve found some celebrity style stars who have already (like, we’re only a week into the new year, guys–way to make the rest of us look bad) embraced the trend.  And we found three ways you can add this precious jewel tone to your wardrobe without handing over all your hard-earned green!

1. Jessica Lace Tanga Panty, now 6 for $26, 2. Satin Applique Full-Figure Corset, now $79.99.  3. Lea Tricot Babydoll, from $16.99.

You can expect this color to dominate the racks in-store and in the digital marketplace. For those who aren’t blessed with a complexion to pull off a head-to-toe green statement, look for accessories like colored clutches, statement necklaces and of course, lacy little underthings! 2013 Style Essentials

January 03, 2013 By: fohblogcreative Category: Fashion & Beauty, Trend Alert, Uncategorized

At the start of every year, we vow to streamline our style, and splurge on the staples that will make our closets incredible, wearable and totally chic.

To ensure we get around to actually doing it in 2013, we’re putting together a list of our  must-have pieces–items that transcend trends and will be able to carry you through this year and beyond. We start the list with a classic:

1. The Little Black Dress.

Has there ever been a more iconic piece of fashion? We think not. Though cutouts have been around for plenty of seasons, and we love them, we find ourselves craving something a little more streamlined and classic–which is why we’re choosing the Strapless Tuxedo Dress. In a timeless silhouette, it’s versatility is unmatched. We can don this for impromptu cocktail parties–just add sparkling heels. An evening wedding–absolutely swoon-worthy with a pashmina. For a night at the theater–with a stylish moto jacket and smoky eye. And of course, for an extra-special date, this is the dress we’d reach for! Worn with softly waved hair and a bold red lip, natch!

Stay tuned for tomorrow, when we unveil the must-have footwear of 2013! Hint: You probably already own several pairs–and no, they aren’t flats! Find this and more little black dresses at fredericks.com.

‘Tis the season for countdowns and wrap-ups, and we thought we’d get in the game with a round up of 2012′s favorite moments, best-sellers and all-around awesomeness.

From the dress that took Vegas by storm to a style so popular we could barely keep it in stock, read on to find out what rocked our year and yours!

Number 12 on our countdown list are the best-selling items from Valentine’s Day (which are still available!). It should come as no surprise that the Parisian Corset, pictured at left, would be the number one pick. Lacy, curvy and oh-so chic, it works just as well out of the bedroom as in! On the right, our Banded Blouson Temptress Dress stuns in signature Frederick’s Red. One look at this and well, he simply didn’t have a chance!

Brace yourself, because #11 on our list is an incredible best-seller! Your hands down favorite, and if we’re being honest–ours too is the Bridget Stretch Cotton Thong. In a stunning array of colors and crafted from comfy cotton and lace, we sold 300,000 of these fancy little panties! Don’t have one in every color yet? Well, our Semi-Annual Sale is happening now, and they’re only 8 for $20. We think it’s time to stock up!

Next up: The Best-Selling Bra of the Year award goes to not one, but two of our most popular styles! On the left, our Hollywood Corset Full-Figure Bra sold well over 100, 000 units! Impressive, but the gorgeous style to the right, our Hollywood Flirt Push-Up? It sold more than 150,000! The most exciting part? These bras are on sale right now, from $14.99! ‘Scuse us, we’ve got some shopping to do…

Number 9 and one of our most-loved things: the sexiest black lingerie of summer! These two standout pieces sold out, stole hearts and had us all swooning. From left to right, our Fringe & Feather Babydoll and our ever-stunning Crisscross Lace Chemise. Classic, alluring and timeless, these pieces bring the luxury after dark!

Coming in at number 8: the most versatile bra of summer (and beyond!). For 2012, we introduced a bra that revolutionized your wardrobe. The Hollywood Exxtreme Cleavage Bra gives you the cleavage & lift you desire with the incredible option to wear it with all your deep plunge, halter neck or T-back styles. Perfection!

Dare to bare in our lucky number 7 pick! Known around the blogosphere as “the dress that rocked Vegas”, this little frock has been making a scene since summer. Available in the matte wrap-around version or the sparkling style you see to the right, this dress causes heads to turn and hearts to flutter!

And with that, we’re done with the first part of our top 12 of 2012 list. Stay tuned and check back Monday for the rest of the countdown and our number 1 choice!

What’s happened to red-carpet glamour?

December 17, 2012 By: fohblogcreative Category: Celebrity Style, Fashion & Beauty, Uncategorized

The On the Road premier happened last Friday, and to say that the red carpet was underwhelming would be…well, generous. Those of us in the office who care about this sort of thing (um, everyone) had high hopes for L.A.-designer-darling Kirsten Dunst and her morose co-star, K-Stew. Unfortunately , what we expected and what we received were two very different beasts.  Jezebel called them “the sloppy new bohemians”, and even compared their outfits to those on Wings and Melrose Place. Ouch!

We’re left wondering if perhaps Hollywood’s youth are simply more inclined to be casual and if so, where does it stop? Used to be, movie premieres were big occasions…and call us naive, but we think they still are! Is this what we have to look forward to? Are the elegant gowns of old kaput for the younger set–unless they’re at the Oscars? We hope not! And before you think we’re against a little casual glamour on the carpet–people were wearing fishnets with open-toed shoes…which has never been okay. Ever. See a breakdown by outfit below, plus shop the looks we put together for each actress!

Kristen Stewart has been wearing progressively less clothing to each movie premiere she attends. With her client’s penchant for sheer, we’d have thought her stylist could come up with something more attractive, less wrinkled and with better fitting undergarments. Then again, perhaps not. Either way, we think K-Stew could take it up a notch with a sheer illusion, like our Long Sleeve Lace Body-Con Dress. She’s worn this silhouette before and with the high (albeit messy ponytail) that she’s rocking, it would look incredible. We liked the idea of a contrast shoe, though the red style we’re suggesting here probably comes in her size. The neon heels she’s wearing apparently did not.

After much discussion, many theories, wild speculations and confusion, we can confidently say we have absolutely no idea what is happening in the picture above. We do know that Kirsten is wearing fishnets…sandals…and a large Dynasty-era suit jacket dress. But, why? We don’t know. That being said, Kirsten should toss that dress. Maybe a nice tuxedo dress dress would have been a better choice? Like the one shown here? Pair it with these shoes, and we’ll all feel so much better. Trust us.

A quick Google search told us that Emily Meade is an up-and-coming-starlet who has a very respectable list of credits to her name. What it doesn’t say is that she has been desperately nostalgic for the late ’90s. Because there is simply no other explanation. We’ve always liked women wearing pants on the red carpet–just not high-waisted, tapered-yet-strangely billowing printed ones. A crisp tuxedo-inspired blazeredgy trousers and killer heels would have sufficed.

What do you think of their outfits? Is Hollywood glamour becoming a thing of the past?
