For Those About To Rock…

July 02, 2012 By: fohblogcreative Category: Music, Uncategorized

Music lovers get thee to Century City! The incredible show, “Who Shot Rock & Roll” is happening right now at the Annenberg Space for Photography. This is the only West Coast appearance and it’s free, so if you’re in the area, we highly recommend going! The 166 piece exhibit includes everybody, from young Elvis on the road, portraits of Kurt Cobain to candid shots of The Ramones and many others. With images and video from the last 50 years of rock n’ roll, soul and hip hop, it’s a poignant reminder of greatness, artistry and the importance of a musical and visual genius.

Also included is an original documentary, created exclusively for the Annenberg Space, highlighting the photographers and their subjects. It will be showing every day in addition to a slideshow of photos from Henry Diltz, shot from 1966-1994 and set to music. KCRW is also hosting a live concert series throughout the run in the courtyard outside. The show is open until October, 7th. Happy Birthday!

April 13, 2012 By: fohblogcreative Category: Music, Uncategorized

Today is legendary soul singer Al Green’s 66th birthday. Named one of Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Artists of All Time” , the nomination simply stated that “people are born to do certain things, and Al was born to make us smile.”  The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inducted Green in 1995, referring to him as “one of the most gifted purveyors of soul music.” Not too shabby!  With more than 20 million records sold and numerous hits, we’re celebrating both his birthday and incredible music with a greatest hits montage at the office. Here’s one of our favorites!

Festival Style: Stay cool while looking hot.

March 28, 2012 By: fohblogcreative Category: Fashion & Beauty, Uncategorized

Hot nights filled with the sound of thousands of people singing.  Summer meets chic. Fashion in the desert. Yes, festival season is upon us once again! From Coachella to the Bayou Boogaloo— it’s on!  And since everyone knows that fashion plays a prominent role during festival season, we’ve come up with some ideas to help you keep your cool while looking totally hot.

Deep V Blouse. Available at Fredericks.com

It’s no secret that bohemian beauty is a coveted look at all the different fests nationwide. Believe it or not, you can get the look by pairing a flirtatious halter corset with denim shorts! Stay away from the heavy jacquard and go with a lightweight version like our Beaded Crochet Halter. The fringed beading and delicate silhouette capture a desert-inspired charm, while the pale hue complements sun-kissed skin.

Remember to bring plenty of sunscreen, especially if you’re heading Coachella—temps can reach well into the 100’s! To doubly ensure you don’t  get sunburned, make sure to bring a hat—red denim may be in, but being beet red will never be chic.

Metallic Two-Tier Top. Available at Fredericks.com

Feeling daring? Go sheer in a crochet  romper over a swimsuit and sandals. Versatile and tempting, it makes the perfect cover-up and it’s one-piece design is absolutely effortless.

Lace & Georgette Romper. Available at Fredericks.com

Happy Birthday!

Today we celebrate the birthdays of 3 talented, independent and incredible women.

Mariah. Photo via Luxist.

First up is Mariah Carey. With her unstoppable career, 2 gorgeous children, and adoring husband, this is looking to be another banner year for our favorite glamour girl. Get yours Mimi!

Fergie. Photo via Getty Images.

With her fearless attitude and fierce style, Fergie has always been one of the most fashionable popstars on the scene. We’ve loved her from her Kids Incorporated days, through Wild Orchid and couldn’t be more thrilled with her success, both solo and with the Black Eyed Peas.

Jessie J. Photo via TGD.

Jessie J, though relatively new to American audiences, has been quickly embraced for her distinctive voice and unconventional musical style. The English chanteuse’s signature look and bold demeanor certainly made her an instant darling around our office.

Happy birthday ladies and may the following year bring you all even greater success and happiness!
