Weekend Artwalk

November 06, 2012 By: fohblogcreative Category: Fashion & Beauty, Uncategorized

After six years and eight million dollars (!!!), the restoration of the iconic building that rests between the picturesque suburb of Glendale (home of Dreamworks) and the up-and-coming hipster mecca of Atwater Village is complete! This weekend marked the second artwalk of the Historic Seeley Building or Seeley Studios, as it’s now known, to draw attention to this new and vibrant community.

Though Los Angeles is full of creative offices and gorgeous lofts, this building is set apart, first by it’s location and second, for it’s longevity. Built in 1925 by the prolific architect Alfred Priest, when the surrounding area was still vineyards, it’s unique in a city famed for destroying it’s history—spending the last 87 years unchanged except for the current Art Deco façade added in the 1940s.

All of the units opened to the public and each provided sips and nibbles for the throngs of people who showed up. Avid lovers of architecture, art and street food, we were there before the party was even underway! The night was balmy (sorry, but we do we live in SoCal), incredible art was everywhere we turned and the Seeley looked fantastic! (We’re just hoping they keep the yearly tradition of a lit Christmas tree atop the roof. It helps us navigate our way out of Glendale and back home to Los Angeles.) Halloween: Hollywood Style

It should come as no surprise that Halloween is kind of a big deal in Hollywood. After all, the characters of Tinseltown make a living out of playing dress-up! Even the legendary starlets of yesteryear, glamorous as they were, couldn’t resist getting in on the fun. Take a look at some of the business’s biggest names puttin’ on the Ritz, below:

Paulette Goddard as a black cat.

Betty Grable, hamming it up in costume.

Veronica Lake casting a sexy spell.

Paulette Goddard, in a very spooky situation!

Vera Ellen, performing a feat of magic.

Esther Williams, decorating up a storm.

What are your plans this Halloween? Are you waiting to celebrate on the big day or will you get it out of your system this Saturday? Share in the comments below!
