The Look for Less: Shoe Edition!

March 01, 2013 By: fohblogcreative Category: Fashion & Beauty

Beautiful shoes are a nicety… nay, a necessity! However, feeding your shoe habit can get expensive–and that’s where we come in. Keeping you informed of the latest trends, edits and steals is one of our favorite pastimes–and we aren’t one to keep a deal to ourselves.

Take, for instance, the Dolce & Gabbana Lace Pump shown above. While undeniably gorgeous, it retails for $895.00. (To put it in layman’s terms, that is…a lot.) Love the look, but don’t want to break the bank? Keep reading!

Enter Frederick’s own Lydia Lace Platform Pump! Designed in luxe lace over satin and boasting a stunning stiletto heel, it’s our prettiest peep toe yet. Retailing at $72, it’s a fraction of the cost with all glamour and drama of the D&G version (and far, far less buyer’s remorse). Pair it with a little black dress, flowing maxi or shimmering skirt for impeccable style and serious chic.

And the best part–aside from its confidence-boosting silhouette and awesome price? You can order it right now and get it shipped for free. Oh, and it’s also available in a shimmering silver and black version!

The Ankle Boot: 2013 Style Essential

January 04, 2013 By: fohblogcreative Category: Fashion & Beauty, Uncategorized

We’re back with another must-have piece for 2013: the ankle boot! It’s made big strides in the past few years, going from occasionally-seen status to a 12-month staple that gets paired with everything from flowing sun dresses to red-carpet-ready sheaths.

Whether it’s lace-up, harnessed or covered in rhinestones, it can not be denied that this is the perfect transitional wardrobe piece! We’ve picked three of our favorite styles to get your new year off on the right foot:

Clockwise from left: Adria Harness Boot, Adiras Lace-Up Bootie and the Stiletto Ankle Boot.

The Adria Harness Boot by Charles David features a sleek stiletto heel, comfortable platform and of course, chic moto style. Go all out for spring and summer and wear them with your favorite maxi dress for a city-meets-boho look that will have everyone staring!

Our Stiletto Ankle Boot may be coated in crystals, but that doesn’t mean it’s strictly for glitz-y late night parties! Bring this sparkling stunner out for day with a classic romper or high-waisted short and boyfriend tee. Transform your office wardrobe with a shot of bling–a little black dress and a colorful blazer means you’re set for the hottest work year around!

Part of the vegan collection by Charles David, the Adiras Lace-Up Bootie is incredibly versatile. Transform a simple floral babydoll dress into a grunge-worthy ensemble or take your favorite skinnies and tuck in a high neck blouse for a romantic, Victorian-inspired look.

The possibilities are endless–which is why ankle boots get our vote for the fashion-forward must-have of 2013.  Find all these booties and more at fredericks.com!

What’s happened to red-carpet glamour?

December 17, 2012 By: fohblogcreative Category: Celebrity Style, Fashion & Beauty, Uncategorized

The On the Road premier happened last Friday, and to say that the red carpet was underwhelming would be…well, generous. Those of us in the office who care about this sort of thing (um, everyone) had high hopes for L.A.-designer-darling Kirsten Dunst and her morose co-star, K-Stew. Unfortunately , what we expected and what we received were two very different beasts.  Jezebel called them “the sloppy new bohemians”, and even compared their outfits to those on Wings and Melrose Place. Ouch!

We’re left wondering if perhaps Hollywood’s youth are simply more inclined to be casual and if so, where does it stop? Used to be, movie premieres were big occasions…and call us naive, but we think they still are! Is this what we have to look forward to? Are the elegant gowns of old kaput for the younger set–unless they’re at the Oscars? We hope not! And before you think we’re against a little casual glamour on the carpet–people were wearing fishnets with open-toed shoes…which has never been okay. Ever. See a breakdown by outfit below, plus shop the looks we put together for each actress!

Kristen Stewart has been wearing progressively less clothing to each movie premiere she attends. With her client’s penchant for sheer, we’d have thought her stylist could come up with something more attractive, less wrinkled and with better fitting undergarments. Then again, perhaps not. Either way, we think K-Stew could take it up a notch with a sheer illusion, like our Long Sleeve Lace Body-Con Dress. She’s worn this silhouette before and with the high (albeit messy ponytail) that she’s rocking, it would look incredible. We liked the idea of a contrast shoe, though the red style we’re suggesting here probably comes in her size. The neon heels she’s wearing apparently did not.

After much discussion, many theories, wild speculations and confusion, we can confidently say we have absolutely no idea what is happening in the picture above. We do know that Kirsten is wearing fishnets…sandals…and a large Dynasty-era suit jacket dress. But, why? We don’t know. That being said, Kirsten should toss that dress. Maybe a nice tuxedo dress dress would have been a better choice? Like the one shown here? Pair it with these shoes, and we’ll all feel so much better. Trust us.

A quick Google search told us that Emily Meade is an up-and-coming-starlet who has a very respectable list of credits to her name. What it doesn’t say is that she has been desperately nostalgic for the late ’90s. Because there is simply no other explanation. We’ve always liked women wearing pants on the red carpet–just not high-waisted, tapered-yet-strangely billowing printed ones. A crisp tuxedo-inspired blazeredgy trousers and killer heels would have sufficed.

What do you think of their outfits? Is Hollywood glamour becoming a thing of the past?
