It’s also known as the start of the summer vacation season (with Labor Day marking the end) and every year a national moment of remembrance takes place at 3:00 p.m. local time. If you happen to find yourself in the City of Angeles this Memorial Day with nothing to do, have no fear. Cannes Fashion: Now & Then

May 17, 2012 By: fohblogcreative Category: Celebrity Style, Fashion & Beauty, Uncategorized

Fashion and film collide on the French Riveira! Cannes, a.k.a the most chic film festival around, has started and whether on the red carpet or beachside chic, the stars always put their best foot forward. With 11 days of parties, photocalls and premieres, you can be sure that there are going to be frothy, sleek stunners and elegant gowns to swoon over. But there’s plenty of time for that later. We think it’s kind of fun to see our favorite celebrities in their finest daytime frocks. Let’s look at our 3 favorite outfits so far:

Photos via Fabsugar.com

Diane Kruger was impeccable in Versus at the official jury photo shoot, while Tilda Swinton and Marion Cotillard kept their look ultra-feminine in pastels at the seaside De Rouille et d’Os photocall. Tilda rolled her the sleeves of her blouse for a casual, undone feel that worked perfectly against the structured pencil skirt. The Grecian feel of Marion’s peach dress was offset with retro heels in a pale yellow hue. Each off these lovely ladies brought her own distinct style to the look and set the fashion bar incredibly high for the next two weeks!

Some of the most iconic figures have made fashion waves at the festival, as well. From daring looks that are totally dated by Jane Birkin and Brigette Bardot to classic like Grace Kelly, being fashion-forward at Cannes has been the aim of stars in every era. Make sure to keep watch for more Cannes coverage. We’ll be doing a round up of the most glamorous looks from the opening gala and premieres!

5 Ways I Love LA

April 19, 2012 By: fohblogcreative Category: Uncategorized

This week, we look to our Online Merchandiser to tell us the 5 things she loves most about Los Angeles. Go for it Rachelle!

“I was born and raised in LA and moved away when I was 15. I moved back when I was 26—it’s nice to be back home with my family! Being that I spent my time split in different places, my heart is torn, I love NY but I always have a soft spot for LA; my roots are here. Here are some of my favorite places:

1.Wokano.

Specifically, the West Hollywood location. Love their sushi!

2. El Rey’s Taco Stand.

Photo via laweekly.

Home of the Garbage Burrito. Sounds gross, but is really just a giant burrito full of beans, meat, rice and all the toppings. It’s delicious!

3. Master Burger.

The best homemade burger. Every time I came back to visit LA, this was the first place I’d go.

4. Eso Won’s Bookstore.

Photo via laist. Visit esowonbookstore.com for more info.

I love, love going to this bookstore. Considered an essential Los Angeles destination in the heart of historic Leimert Park, the 24 year old Eso Won has played host to a variety of authors from Presidents Obama and Clinton, writers Toni Morrison and Octavia Butler, to singers Patti LaBelle,Gladys Knight and Otis Williams (and the greatest f them all, Joe Frazier).

5. Movies in the Park at The Grove.

Photo via city-data.

Every summer The Grove has movies in the park, we sit on the bleachers and bring snacks. It’s amazing.

It was hard to pick only 5, there are so many other reasons I love this city! Hopefully you take the time if you’re in town to check out a few of my top picks.

Tuesday How-To: Get vacation-chic style

April 17, 2012 By: fohblogcreative Category: Fashion & Beauty, Trend Alert, Uncategorized

In a perfect world we could take off when the mood struck, head to an an exotic locale and relax in the sun. Unfortunately, due to the constraints of our jobs, budgets and you know, regular life stuff, it’s just not possible. Fortunately, there are ways to bring a touch of vacay-inspired glamour to your wardrobe when you’ve come down with the travel bug. We’ve picked some accessories to give you a poolside-pickup, even when you’re stuck at home.

Available at fredericks.com.

Be bold and bright when you accessorize. Take your look to the tropics with pretty baubles in Caribbean colors. Intricate details and parrot-inspired hues evoke a resort feel that’ll be welcome when you’re stuck in traffic on Wednesday. Face it, it’s hard to be in the dumps when your decked out in cheery coral!

Available at fredericks.com.

Send your outfit on safari with adventure loving accents! The office will transform into a sartorial outback when you wear gorgeous shoes with outdoorsy details. Woven straps and perforated pumps, reminiscent of hand woven baskets from a crowded bazaar, will inject your day with some much needed mystique. Look for cork or wooden heels to add earthy elegance to your ensemble and create a beachy-boho vibe.

What do you do to sweep away the I’d-rather-be-on-vacation blues?
