Lunch Break: Cahuenga Corridor
Have you ever had a day when the thought of sitting at your desk for lunch sounds as appealing as a trip to the DMV? Well, a coworker and I set out for a lunchtime foray on one such day, in search of a delicious burger and an adventure. Every Sunday the blocks surrounding Frederick’s office become a bustling farmer’s market, full of booths filled with seasonal treats. During the week, however, it’s still humming–there’s foot traffic, famous restaurants and boutiques–we knew that, but what we didn’t know is that it has a name: the Cahuenga Corridor! So, we set off to explore!
With food the first priority, we stopped in at Fuku Burger. Sleek, lightly industrial and featuring Japanese-influenced American classics including a katsu bbq sauce, habanero kabayaki and some crazy addictive fries covered in togarashi seasoning, I can say with confidence: it will quell any craving you have ever had. Ever. After a delicious meal (seriously, try the falafel burger), we walked back down the new EaCA Alleyway. Recently opened, restaurants like the famous Velvet Margarita and newcomers St.Felix and Outpost now offer private outdoor seating under delicate strands of Edison bulbs.
The next block contains Space 15 Twenty, which features an architecture bookstore, nail salon, board shop, Free People, Urban Outfitters and Hairroin Salon (who some of you might recognize from the show “Shear Genius”. The owner of the salon won Season 3! And it has an Umami Burger! Swoon. In the midst of all this awesomeness is a brightly colored patio just steps away from the entrance of each store. Featuring a performance space, pop-up gallery and hosting a rotating cast of muscians and artists, it’s pretty much the perfect place to soak up inspiration and a little sunshine. Our journey came to an end as we ran into Project Urban Renewal at the edge of the Space. With a romantic indoor pavillion where you can peruse well curated pieces of vintage clothing and take part in sewing workshops offered just steps from the office, we have to say, working in Hollywood definitely has some perks!
