Welcome to the first of our new monthly Guest Blogger series! To start things off, we’re doing two installments with blogger: Wrecked Stellar. Based out of Los Angeles, this Jersey native writes in a witty, incredibly engaging voice, has an amazing career and has… are you ready for it … the most stellar style! Can you tell we’re a bit obsessed? Read on to learn more about this savvy fashion goddess (and TV star!):

-What do you do for a day job/ How do you balance your time?

I’m a Senior Project Manager at a full-service advertising agency, where I work on digital, broadcast, and print projects. Since I’m so invested in my work, allotting time for other life productivity is challenging. In fact, I recently said I need to not only execute a work/life balance, but now it’s come to a work/life/blog balance. I write the majority of my posts in the early morning, sometimes waking up at 3am. It’s in those still moments that the random, yet deep thoughts surface and I can write freer than at any other time.

-Any advice for someone looking to start a blog?

Be YOU. It sounds like a given, but in a world of thousands of fashion blogs, someone may be influenced to dress like someone he or she sees. In turn, the sense of individuality is lost and every posted look becomes a resemblance rather than an authentic reality. Also, I care about the integrity of my words just as much as my photos. I will never write a post in twenty minutes for the sake of throwing it up there. My readers deserve better than that. I recommend that the writing be strong and that there is a unique voice to it.

-How would you describe your style?

My style is multidimensional. I mash masculine with feminine, vintage with designer, cropped with high waisted, and color with any unexpected color- sometimes all in one look. The compliment that I receive and always strive to receive is: “Only you can pull that off”. The only real rule to fashion is to own your look- because if you think you can, you will.

-Name the one beauty product you can’t live without.

Make Up For Ever High Definition Powder- it’s a finishing powder that softens the complexion.

-What’s the one thing that would surprise people to learn about you?

People would be surprised to know that I have a tomboy side to me. I’m perceived as girly because I love fashion and beauty, but I grew up playing basketball, softball, and tennis and ran track and cross country. I get riled up talking about sports and have been considering joining a basketball league.

-What’s the story behind the name of your blog?

I knew I didn’t want my name to indicate anything about fashion because I wanted the freedom to write about anything. While my blog shows my outfit photos, the copy is often about what’s going on in my life and the depths and interpretations of those happenings. I had been thinking of words that I like in their own rights and during a commute to work, I thought of “wrecked” and “stellar”. I like to think that there’s some beauty found in the wrecked- as long as one’s willing to look for it. And I’ve always had an affinity to the word, “stellar”. In my high school Latin class, we chose Latin names to be called by for the year. In my fourth and final year of Latin, I decided to get fancy and chose a two word name: Splendida Stella. It means “Shining Star”.
