Who Wore it Better?

Saturday evening Hollywood stars, journalists and politicos headed to Washington, D.C. for the hottest ticket in town: The White House Corespondents Dinner. Not one to pass up a fashionable red carpet event, we gave the arrivals our undivided attention. With all glamourous gowns, power players and questionable fashion choices, we almost missed that both KimK and Kate Hudson showed up rocking a sleek, ’60s-inspired look. Which begs the question; who did it better?

Kim Kardashian went with a deep emerald velvet gown by Johanna Johnson. While we love the silhouette, velvet seems like more of a holiday fabric than something you would choose for an April evening. The gown was lightly accented with Swarvoski crystals at the shoulders and waist which played nicely with the demure cut. The back of the dress was a little unexpected with a slit that showed off a tasteful peek of skin. Kim finished the look with a braided bun atop her head and surprisingly low-key bangles.

Kate Hudson went long, statuesque and ’60s like Kim, but with very different results. The star wowed in a deep purple sequined dress by Jenny Packham, another bold color choice for spring. The long embellished sleeves and boat neckline channeled a classic sense of glamour that was somewhat lacking this year. A high bun, drop earrings and an Edie Parker clutch left her looking understated but memorable.

Who do you think wore the Breakfast-at-Tiffany’s-inspired silhouette best?
